Pivotal Research Pty Ltd takes the privacy of the users of its applications very seriously, and is bound by the National Privacy Act 1988, which sets out a number of principles concerning the privacy of individuals. The goal of this document is to outline the management of your personal information by Pivotal Research Pty Ltd in the usage of the 'Mosman Rider' application on Android and iOS, and should be viewed collectively with Mosman Council's Privacy Management Plan.
What Information Do We Collect?
Pivotal Research Bus Service Locator mobile applications (such as 'Mosman Rider') can be browsed anonymously without signing up.
During startup, both the Android and iOS applications will request access to your location in order to display your current location within the mobile applications. Pivotal Research Pty Ltd will never collect, store or forward your location data to any third party, including Mosman Council.
During application usage, user behaviour information related to time and frequency of requesting a bus location may be collected. This information is attached to a randomly generated non-personally identifiable user id that cannot be linked back to a specific originating user/device. Pivotal Research takes this information very seriously and it undergoes successive passes of obfuscation (randomising, hashing) to ensure privacy and no means of identifying specific end-users.
Why Do We Collect This Information?
The primary reason for collecting user behaviour information related to bus location requests is to report on usage of the service both in the terms of total requests and number of unique (non identifiable) users. This data is always reported at an aggregate level.
This usage reporting information enables Pivotal Research Pty Ltd and Mosman Council to better understand the needs of the bus service and mobile applications. Our common goal is to improve service quality both from a mobile application view, and community bus service view, and these reports help best determine how to achieve that.
Holding and Sharing of Information
Pivotal Research Pty Ltd stores no information from the mobile applications. We will never disclose mobile application usage information to any third party other than Mosman Council, who holds reporting information for internal use only.
Any access to customer support may require submission of personally identifiable information (such as an email address), however this information will be only used in order to resolve and respond to feedback requests.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Pivotal Research Pty Ltd reserves the right to make amendments to this Privacy Policy at any time. If you have objections to the Privacy Policy, you should not access or use the bus finder mobile applications provided by Pivotal Research Pty Ltd.
